When we think we know all there is to know about animals, they continue to surprise us with their mental prowess. An astonishing incident occurred recently when a blind elephant began to dance to live classical music, which we are just about to tell you.
Musician Paul Barton visits an elephant sanctuary with his piano one beautiful day. He begins to play a classical tune for one of the sanctuary’s blind elephants.
To everyone’s surprise, the elephant, Lam Duan, began swaying and stepping to the rhythm provided by Barton. Lam Duan, 62, has already been living at the ElephantsWorld animal sanctuary in Thailand for most of her life despite being legally blind.
Although she cannot see Barton playing the piano, she appreciates it and responds to it as if she can. She’s not the only elephant who attends Barton’s concerts. The calm classical piano music is enjoyed by many. According to one musician, many elephants respond to music in a variety of ways, from dancing to coming closer to the piano.
When this artist begins playing the piano, all of the elephants get curious, even if some continue to rub the keyboard with their trunks. Lam Duan can be seen dancing to the sounds of the piano in the video below:
Some of the elephants have even tried singing along with the music using only their trunks. Elephants can be heard humming along in the video below:.
